Solitaire Urgo Le Figaro 2019, the route unveiled

New boat, new course, new stopover towns, and above all the return of the former winners. For sure, the 50th edition of the Solitaire Urgo Le Figaro will be a great vintage. Departure on June 2, 2019.

This Year the Solitaire will be a great vintage. The arrival of the new Figaro 3 boat (which replaces the Figaro 2) has largely opened up competition. Indeed, the new boat, unknown to all competitors, leaves the door open to fierce competition.

With the arrival of this new boat, the "old" winners of the competition met again on the starting line. Loïck Peyron, Michel Desjoyeaux, Armel Le Cléac'h, Jérémie Beyou, Yann Eliès... all of you fighting for our greatest pleasure.

Le Figaro 3 stirs up passions and begins to draw a new landscape for ocean racing. is equipped with foils. It is the first production boat to have one. The riders received their boat in January 2019 and only have a short time before the start to train and find the strings of this new one-design.

On June 2, the first stage will start under the Saint-Nazaire bridge at the mouth of the Loire. The competitors will cross the Channel for the first time to arrive in Ireland at Kinsale. Then heading north for the second leg to go to the Isle of Man before returning to Roscoff. A 630-mile marathon stage!

The third stage will have the same start and finish port. The Figaro 3 will leave Roscoff on Sunday 16th June for 460 miles in the English Channel. Finally, it is towards Dieppe that the fleet will head for the last leg.

No Bay of Biscay this year, but a race under the sign of the Channel with its many tidal currents still difficult to negotiate.
