Special Edition / The generator set by Vetus

What is required of a generator set? Simply produce 220 V in sufficient quantity for the boat's equipment that needs it. This production must be done with a minimum of inconvenience (noise, vibration), low energy consumption and easy maintenance. It is on these criteria that Vetus has relied to develop its range of GX generators.

Vetus has developed a range of products that exactly meets the expectations of boaters. Modern generators provide an impeccable signal quality. The generators used are designed for marine applications. These generators ensure a perfect sinusoidal curve allowing minimal interference with sensitive equipment installed on board, such as air conditioners and computers.

Slow or fast speed

Based on Vetus engines from the new range of marine engines (the M-Line range), the generators are available in two speeds. The GLX range is equipped with engines that run at 1500 rpm (L for Low) and the GHX range (H for High) with engines that run at 3000 rpm. Of course, engines that run at low rpm are less noisy and vibrate less, but they also have the disadvantage of being bigger, heavier. Indeed, to produce the same electrical power at a slower speed, you need a more powerful motor.

A complete range of products

The GX range covers power ratings from 6 to 20 kVa in single or three-phase, 50 or 60 hz. For pleasure boating, it is usually small powers of 6 to 10 kVa that are found. These units are used on boats to power air conditioners, watermakers or chargers.

Delivered with accessories

Vetus is renowned for the peripheral accessories of engines. The generators receive the same care. They are delivered with all the peripherals necessary for their operation: exhaust, cooling water intake, seawater filter, exhaust valve, valve and shell gland... Choosing a Vetus unit is the assurance of having the whole line from the diesel supply to the exhaust through the cooling, which will be well sized for the chosen group.

An accessible cocoon

To facilitate maintenance operations, the cocoon in which the unit is enclosed opens. The front, rear and top covers are easily removable for better access during maintenance. This aluminium soundproofing cocoon has been specially designed to reduce noise from the generator to a minimum.

Worldwide maintenance

The generators are built with the marine engines of the M-Line range also used for propulsion. These engines can be found all over the world. The maintenance of the generators is identical with the same parts, using the same service network. The soundproofing cocoon has four wide panels for easy access to the engine. Maintenance parts such as fuses, relays, oil filter, diesel filter and turbine of the seawater pump are housed on one side only and are therefore very accessible during maintenance.
