With the application installed on your smartphone, you can track the movements of the beacon. This small beacon is therefore a geolocation system, but also a formidable anti-theft alarm. Indeed, you can define a "security" geographical area and if the beacon leaves this area, an alert is triggered on your phone.
Compared to the competition, the interest of this small beacon, in addition to its beautiful matt black finish and its very small size (10.5 x 2.7 cm), lies in its autonomy. Its battery, which is charged with a simple USB cable, has an autonomy of up to 8 months depending on the desired tracking intensity. You can choose to get a point every 3, 5 or 10 minutes depending on how you use the tag.
In terms of technology, Invoxia operates via low-power networks (LoRa in France and Switzerland, Sigfox in European countries). At sea, we will have a range between 5 to 10 miles from the coast. To locate small objects (if you leave your beacon in your sailor's bag for example), the beacon also integrates Wifi network location technologies. It can be used both inside and outside buildings. Inside, near the beacon, a screen on the phone guides you to the beacon.
Even if the software offers the possibility of tracing the route of a beacon, the Invoxia should not be considered as a tracker. As soon as the boat moves away from the shore, the signal will be cut off. The Invoxia beacon is a rather good anti-theft system. Be careful, the beacon is not waterproof. It is waterproof everywhere except where its USB port is located.
The Invoxia is also interesting by its very affordable price since the beacon is available at 99 € (price 2018) with a 3-year network subscription included in the price of the beacon (the recharging will then only cost 9,99 €/year).
