What a pleasure to have a barbecue at anchor! Whether it is to grill the peach of the day, to make grilled vegetables or even some sausages, the barbecue is an ally of the cook.
Long live charcoal cooking
Charcoal cooking on a boat is not heresy. It must be done at anchor by settling at the stern of the boat above the water. Thus the smoke or other hot projections are sent backwards or to the water. Only the neighbours at anchor breathe in your grill scent and can only lick their lips..
To cook with charcoal, there are very well thought stainless steel barbecue models which are fixed on the back balcony. Very nice, very clean, but also very expensive (over 200 €) and very big to store.
Use a disposable barbecue
A boater in the south of France had the idea of using a disposable barbecue, originally designed for camping, to cook in the back of his boat. These disposable barbecues sold in supermarkets for a few euros are aluminium dishes that contain the charcoal, the starter product and the grill to place the food to cook. Once the coal has been consumed and cooled, it is discarded. It's a single-use barbecue.
A double-use stainless steel support
To hold this aluminium bowl in place, our yachtsman has developed a support that is placed horizontally above the water. By tightening the stirrup on the rear balcony, the barbecue is held at the back of the boat above the water. Just light the aluminum bowl and cook the peach of the day!
