Special Edition / Plastimo Annexes, care in detail and safety

Plastimo, the French hardware manufacturer based in Lorient, has always been a pioneer in the field of marine safety and inflatable products. This company has made its reputation with its liferafts. From there to producing inflatable annexes, there is only one step, which Plastimo has taken a long time ago.

It has been 25 years since Plastimo added appendices to its catalogue. For 2018, no less than 14 models are available in 48 references. There is something for everyone! Models from 1.80 m to 3.80 m in PVC, but also in Hypalon. Wooden, aluminium, inflatable floors, with or without keel. Polyester or aluminium semi-rigid, with or without flooring...

An aesthetic overhaul

At Plastimo, the dinghy is not considered as a simple utility, a means of transport between the boat and the shore. At Plastimo, the annex is designed to be aesthetic, bright and stylish. She has to do the boat proud once she gets back under the davits.

This is why the range has been completely redesigned this year 2018 to offer products that integrate perfectly with their time, both in decoration and materials used. Indeed, the PVC chosen is a 1100 Decitex (a quality material) and the Hypalon is Orca from Pennel and Flipo.

Ergonomics for more safety

In addition to aesthetics, an annex must be practical and reassuring. Ergonomics is essential. For this purpose, the Plastimo design office navigates. And this is reflected in the detail of the product.

Thus the trains are stored not on top of the float as is usually the case, but inside at floor level. So passengers don't put their butts on it and these accessories don't scratch the hull when you board your boat.

The holding cuffs at the helmsman's level are not on top in the axis of the road, but slightly inside at 45°. This way they are easy to reach and offer better safety. The same goes for the front passengers who have more handrails that really run to the bow.

Flaps on an annex

Among this very complete range, three models stand out from the rest.

The Fun tenders are equipped with an inflatable floor that extends into flaps on each side of the engine. They provide stability and lift-off assistance to the tender, especially if the tender is loaded. This annex is available in 3 sizes: 2.32 m, 2.67 m and 3.21 m for 2 to 4 people.

An inflatable transom

When folding an annex, the transom is the most space consuming part and limits the size of the package. To reduce its size, Plastimo has imagined an outgrowth of the side struts. Thus the table is limited to the width of the motor, the rest deflates. This annex is available in 2.36 m for 2 to 3 people.

A foldable semi-rigid dinghy

Even with a rigid polyester shell, this 3.10 m long tender can fit into a 1.50 x 1 m bag. Indeed, its rigid hull folds in half by its middle. This 55 kg model can accommodate 4 people and find its place in the trunk of a car when disembarking.
