Les Bateaux, a learning book for children

Aimed at little sailors (3-5 years old), this book covers the fundamentals of boats while remaining playful with observation questions and puzzle pieces to be collected to make up a new big puzzle.

Glénat offers a collection of learning books on different fields. This time it is the boats that are on the program. Aimed at children from 3 to 5 years old, this book allows a discovery of a universe while offering play as a complement.

This book, which includes only 6 plates, retraces the life of boats from their construction in a shipyard, to their storage in port and their navigation (sailing school and sailing race). It also reviews a fishing port and a boarding on a ferry.

In addition to a didactic text (a bit long?), children discover the activities on the page by lifting puzzle pieces. These pieces are collected over the pages (4 per page with 20 pieces in total) to form a new puzzle by turning them over. The child then creates a pirate drawing with a squid shark.

Very good workmanship with solid parts and thick pages, this book is easy to give to a child. It could just as easily be criticized for its overly academic approach to textes?? When reading (test on a 4 year old child), the child quickly drops out to concentrate on the puzzle pieces to collect (much more fun than listening to the reading!).
