Plancha ENO, the reference for outdoor cooking

ENO has been manufacturing heating appliances in France for more than 100 years. This method of cooking, widely acclaimed by cooks, has taken on all its letters of nobility with ENO and its Cook'n Boat range.

Widely used in the open air since 1994, the plancha is now a must for cooking on boats. Thanks to ENO, a French company based in Niort, the plancha is now available in the cockpits of boats from 35 feet. Dufour launched this fashion on its monohulls by integrating a plancha accessible from the skirt, solutions that have since been adopted by several other manufacturers.

Enameling for quality

ENO concentrates its know-how in the enameling of cast iron. Cast iron is the best conductor of heat. Enameling, the surface treatment that consists in vitrifying cast iron by applying a layer of silica, offers this ideal finish for food hygiene. Indeed, the raw cast iron is porous. Without enameling, its surface can be contaminated and bacteria can develop.

A food enamel

Enameling can also give color. You may be familiar with cast iron casseroles in kitchens that are colored. But you may notice that if colors are used on the outside, the inside is white or black. This is because the oxides used for coloring are not food grade. Only black and white are. This is why ENO planchas are black. ENO is so sure of the quality of its enameling that it does not hesitate to guarantee it for life!

A 100% French company for a global market

ENO is a French company and claims it. It is one of the last industrial actors on our territory. The planchas are all made locally. The enameling is done in 2 ovens that run all day for a cooking at 800°. This desire to produce in France has required the company to invest in robotizing production. Today the company has about 100 employees and defends its French know-how recognized all over the world.

Gas, the most efficient way to heat

If there are electric planchas, the heating system chosen for boats is gas. Ideally connected to the gas on board, but you can also have planchas fed on independent cartridges, the plancha offers unlimited possibilities for cooking outside. It is not uncommon to no longer use the stove installed in the boat when you have a plancha on board. Meat, fish, vegetables, seafood ... the plancha adapts to all cooking.

Adaptable or built-in

In its Cook'n Boat range, ENO offers built-in planchas (often originally planned by the shipyard that designs the boat) or removable planchas. They are then fixed on the balcony or placed on the cockpit or the fly. These planchas can be stored in a box so as not to interfere with maneuvers. Be careful, these models, because of their cast iron construction, are quite heavy (about 15 kg).

Reliable and efficient, ENO planchas have been developed for 5 years. We are already at the 3 e generation of products that are constantly evolving for greater reliability and safety.

Innovation 2018

From now on all ENO models (barbecue and plancha) are equipped with gas safety. Even the cartridge models are now equipped with a thermocouple that closes a solenoid valve that cuts off the gas (this was not the case before for technical reasons on the regulator). This is very reassuring if a gust of wind blows out the flame, the gas is cut off instantly.
