SPC is a brand new concept that has no competition yet. It is a system, Stability Position Control, which limits roll at anchor. It is designed to fit on all powerboats from 10 m and above and without upper size limits.
The principle is simple. A boat at anchor is much more stable if it is perpendicular to the swell. However, a boat settles in the wind bed, which does not necessarily correspond to the swell. This is why a boat often rolls at anchor. And that's unpleasant for life on board.

The SPC, with its 2 small electric motors installed on the transom, will keep the boat in line with the swell. With the boat at anchor, the skipper will start by manually operating the SPC by pivoting its stern with the help of the submerged motors. Then, once the boat is in the desired axis, it is sufficient to switch to the automatic position. The system memorises the course on an electronic compass and the engines come into action to keep the boat in this axis. The motors have proportional variable power. They can rotate from 100 to 1500 rpm with maximum torque from the very first turns of the propeller.
The SPC has several advantages:
- Simple installation. Simply attach the electric motors to the transom and connect the electrical connections.
- Safety at anchor. As the boat stays on the axis, it pulls cleanly on its anchor chain without moving from one side to the other.
- Ecology by protecting the funds. The SPC avoids the raking of funds due to avoidance.
- Decreased turning circle. We're taking up less space at anchor.
- Possibility to stand in front of a panorama. To watch the sunset or face the beach, the SPC positions and holds the boat in place.
- Effectively replaces a stern thruster (with 60% more efficiency!). The SPC requires no maintenance.

The SPC with its two engines and two propellers works equally well in both directions. It is more powerful than a conventional propeller and especially brushless motors can run for hours. Totally submerged, which prevents them from heating up, they are also very quiet.
The SPC is installed on the transom of a boat. In the case of an overturning boat, they are out of the water as soon as the cruising speed is reached, so they do not offer any drag. Very light (150 kg for a 30 m boat), the SPC is also much less expensive than the stabilizer solutions usually found on large units.
The SPC, produced by France Hélices, is available in 12, 24 or 48 volts and even in a three-phase version for very large units. Several powers are also available in each range.
