Aspir, the new Botalo deck shoe

Can we still innovate in the deck shoe? By adopting a new sole on its traditional moccasin, Botalo is delivering a shoe designed for sailing.

Botalo is THE brand of deck shoe. The same one that accompanies us on the pontoons or at the yacht club after a day at sea. Indeed, this factory located in Libourne (in Gironde near Bordeaux), designed the Grand Large model in 1968 to meet an order from Baron Bich for the first French challenge on the America's Cup. This sailor was the first "foreigner" to dare to challenge the Anglo-Saxons at the helm of the famous France 1 (a 12 m JI now renovated and classified as a historical monument). Since then, the famous "deck shoes" have left their mark on generations of sailors, a symbol of belonging to a caste.

The locally assembled botaloes are made of treated leather for marine use. The pieces of leather chosen, all of French or European origin, are thick (the thickness of the "full grain" is more than 2.2mm). All steps are done by hand and the sole is sewn (not simply glued).

For the 2018 season, Botalo is launching a new model. The Aspir moccasin gets a new sole designed for incredible grip. It is made of rubber with integrated suction cups for grip and a water drainage system to the outside, ideal for smooth and wet boat decks.
