Icom has launched a new fixed VHF: IC-M330E. This model is of course GMDSS class D, recognizable by the Ditress function directly on the front panel. But its main feature is the very compact housing (15.65 x 6.65 x 11.01 cm).
Indeed, this VHF is no more than 11 cm deep. A plus when you try to fit it into a narrow console. Totally waterproof (IPX7 is waterproof to 1 m for 30 minutes) this model will be perfectly adapted on open or semi-rigid hulls.
The IC-M330E has a large, easy-to-read screen and Icom's own audio functions such as AquaQuake to free the speaker from possible water splashes. This model is also equipped with a loudspeaker which, despite its small size, gives an excellent audio communication rendering.
This fixed VHF will be available in two versions. The first without a built-in GPS (IC-M330E) and the second with a built-in GPS (IC-M330GE). All these VHF will be available in black or white. On the price side, this VHF will be offered at the same price as the IC-M323 it replaces.
