Le Tempest 38, sunbathing in number for mini cruises

The Tempest 38, new for 2017/2018

With a renewal of range operated for two years, Capelli continues to decline its range. At the Cannes Yachting Festival, the Italian shipyard presented the Tempest 38, the little brother of the 40, whose difference lies in the layout of the aft deck. Presentation in pictures of this new model.

The Cannes Yachting Festival was the occasion for the Capelli shipyard to present the Tempest 38, a semi-rigid of 11.90 m, the little brother of the Tempest 40. The two models are similar, but differ in the layout of the aft deck. "The two models are very similar, but the 38 is for customers who didn't want sunbathing, as on the larger model" explains Joël Bontoux, from Yamaha's press department during the boat tour.

A range of products

The "T Serie" range, which offers top-of-the-range and large models, is now made up of 3 models: the Tempest 44 (13.1 m) will come out in 2013, the Tempest 40 (12.18 m) will come out in 2016 and the Tempest 38 (11.90 m) will come out in 2017. They will be joined by the Tempest 50, presented at the 2018 Cannes Yachting Festival. "This new boat will present a new concept, with new layouts and will be totally different from what is done today. It will be more upscale, more comfortable and more spacious. This luxury product is designed for an upscale clientele" explains Joel.

A design similar to the Tempest 40, but different in the aft deck area

Access to the boat is via the extended aft platforms at the stern for easier access to the water unlike the Tempest 40. One can easily move around the two engines V8 350 hp (48 knots) or V6 300 hp (42 knots) thanks to the large platform, preceded in the standard version by a sundeck and in option by two deckchairs with a table in the middle, "a version increasingly popular with homeowners." explains Joel.

Deckchair version

At the rear of the cockpit, the Tempest 38 has a large saloon with a U-shaped bench seat and a table that converts into a sundeck thanks to a hydraulic system integrated into the cockpit table. Under the seats, there is plenty of storage space, including a very large locker under the aft bench seat. "Nowadays, a storage unit of this size has become an indispensable element for storing water toys: paddle, diving equipment, etc." says Joel. The storage compartment also contains a water tank (140 l), a black water tank and all the battery kits.

Behind the leaning-post for 2 persons, there is an outdoor kitchen with fridge, sink and stove. The steering console, protected by a wrap-around windscreen, is equipped with hydraulic power steering as standard for easy manoeuvring and an optional joystick. The optional T-top with two feet at the rear of the cockpit allows a sun canopy to be stretched out for protection from the sun.

The cabin is rather spacious, with a headroom of 1.80 m and has a saloon/double berth of 2.40xm x 1.60 m and a separate toilet with w.c., shower and washbasin. "Numerous customization options are available on this model, such as on the 40 or 44" in terms of equipment, flexitek or upholstery." indicates Joel. At the bow, the Tempest 38 has a very large sundeck with an electric windlass as standard.

The price of the Tempest 38 in the basic version with 2x300 hp is 250,000 euros. The price of the model on display at the Cannes Yachting Festival is 279,000 euros.
