Steiner, still the reference for marine binoculars

If the Steiners are used by all the world's sailors, it is as much for their solidity as for the quality of the image they transmit. For more than 70 years, this company has been working for the safety and pleasure of sailors.

Looking through a pair of Steiner binoculars totally changes the vision. During a visit to this German company, its director accompanied me when night fell by the side of a road. To test the binoculars at night... The pair of Steiner Navigator Pro I had in my hands allowed me to see details at night, impossible to see during the day!

A unique place on the market

The market for marine binoculars has become much poorer. The most famous optics manufacturers have abandoned it to make way for chinoiseries. There is still more than Steiner which today occupies the place with 2 Commander and Navigator Pro models which are available in several versions (with or without compass).

An irreproachable optical know-how

This is made possible by the special treatment of the lenses. While conventional binoculars - including all low-cost imported Chinese models - "eat" light, the transmission of Steiner is close to 100%. No light loss.

This company has built a reputation by producing binoculars for the army since 1947. For the navy, it was also the company that proposed the first integrated compass, the sealing of the optics by filling them with gas, the indestructible Makrolon case...

Quality and rigour of construction

With 300 employees today, the company continues to produce binoculars of very high quality. All production is carried out in Bayreuth (Germany). From polishing the lenses to final assembly with very high quality control at each step. All assembly phases are carried out manually to ensure rigorous quality.

A long-term investment

So yes, a pair of Steiner is (much) more expensive than a pale copy. But buying a Steiner is an investment for life (they are guaranteed for 30 years!). And once you've tasted this kind of product, it's hard to put your eyes back in low-end binoculars... For France, Steiner binoculars are distributed by Plastimo.
