After a season at sea, whether you are a simple yachtsman or a racing enthusiast, it is strongly advised to rinse your sails to remove the salt crystals that have stuck to them. Indeed, these are aggressive for the fibers and keep the fabric moist.
A simple spray of water on the pontoon is not enough. It is preferable to rinse with a professional such as White Sails. In addition to rinsing them, it will be able to wash your sails.

We contacted White Sails to find out about the washing process:"The sails that arrive are laid flat on a floor and cleaned with 3 families of products depending on the nature of the stains: mould or greenery, stainless steel run-out or black traces due to pollution, rust stain. Each part of the sail is thus treated. The product is sprayed and spread with soft brushes. There is no mechanical action to wash, just a chemical action. Thus the fabric, whatever its condition, is not damaged. Then the sail is rinsed with plenty of water. Same on the other side. Finally the sails are suspended to dry in our workshop."

White Sails works both directly with individuals, but also with professionals. Indeed, sailmakers often call on them to clean the sails before repairing them. The racing teams (IMOCA, Ultim, TP 52...) are also customers. They like to find desalinated sails, softer and lighter. Particularly useful when gluing advertising stickers, for example.

White Sail is capable of handling all sail sizes, from small dinghies to large super yachts. Thus it is a sail of a yacht of 200 feet (400 m2 of sail!) which was cleaned recently. Any type of sail whatever the material (Dacron, Carbon, Mylar or even spinnaker fabric). Condoms and biminis (just like sail covers) can also be washed in the same way. A formula to re-waterproof them is also possible.
