The designer who marked the pleasure years cast off

Jean-Olivier Heron

If he was not a public figure, Jean-Olivier Héron marked the glory years of yachting with his brilliant pencil stroke. The winged fish that turn into a boat, it was him. He died last night.

Jean-Olivier Heron has passed away. If his name does not resonate in everyone's ears, his drawings that he called "metamorphoses" are known to all. The series "Comment naissent les bateaux" (How boats are born) was created in 1971 at the same time as the creation of the magazine Sails & Sailboats of which he is one of the founders.

Last night, at the age of 79, he just lost his battle with cancer at Port Joinville's Yeu Island Hospital. To all his family, the whole team of Bateaux.com sends its condolences.
