Born as its name indicates in the year 2000 - but also to signal the 20 feet length - this sailboat was an immediate success thanks to a tight selling price and a specification in line with the demand for small cruisers. An integral dinghy whose daggerboard retracts entirely into the hull, which facilitates beaching, but above all, the exit of water on a trailer: no need for a crane.
More of a day boat than a cruiser, it is an easy, fun and modern boat. Its sober lines and without excess do not go out of fashion at all. It is a pity that this very successful model disappeared so early from the catalog euros the fault of the shipyard, to opportunities, they explain. Stable in shape, the Sun 2000 shows good performance at all points of sail and remains controllable as a family, including under asymmetric spinnaker. It's a pity that the dark green gelcoat of the first models loses its shine quickly. Like the First 210, it is the lighter hulls that age best (when they are not green, they are cream for the Sun 2000).
Structure and peripherals are reliable. Standardization obliges, the shovel and the rudder cage were borrowed from its cousin, the First 211 . But the centerboard axis, under sampled, is to be watched. The Sun 2000 can be set in 30 cm of water, well protected by its cast iron cover, but the poor surface condition of the ballast and the quality of the joint with the hull can significantly affect performance.
