How does it work?
A flotilla is a fleet of ships, framed by a flagship. On the flagship, a skipper who knows the sailing area perfectly and who, depending on the weather, proposes suitable destinations, anchorages and stopovers. From the morning briefing where he describes the route to the assistance for the anchorage, through the supervision during the navigation, he reassures and ensures moments of pleasure at sea.
On the flagship, a technician can answer all the problems that may arise during a cruise: management of water, electricity on board, explanation on the use of an instrument... These small details that can spoil a skipper's life disappear with the technician.
Finally, the flagship also has a hostess or hostess in her crew whose role is to ensure perfect conviviality during anchorages. This person will be able to provide information on the restaurants of the port of call or help to find a bank. He or she can also provide a barbecue on the beach, a convivial aperitif or games for the children.
For who?
The flotilla is the assurance of a 100% successful holiday. It is aimed at all sea lovers who wish to free themselves from all the constraints of sailing. Of course, at the beginning, we think of skippers who do not yet feel very comfortable taking responsibility for sailing their loved ones. But even the most seasoned will find their way by opting for a cruise for which they are sure of the final result. And what is more important than being sure of a successful holiday?
Sunsail, which has been organizing flotillas for 42 years, has seen this clientele grow, but above all, it has become more international. If at the beginning it was mainly Anglo-Saxons who signed up for this type of destination, nowadays we can find clients from all countries, including more French.
Where to?
Today, Sunsail has become the leading flotilla player. Its seniority and competence in the field are the assurance of a successful cruise. The cruises on offer take place over 1 or 2 weeks throughout the year. Thus we find cruises in the West Indies (Virgin Islands) during the less winter and in the Mediterranean during the summer: Italy, Croatia or Greece. The choice is of course made according to the desired destination, but also according to your level. Some fleets with slightly longer or windier legs require a higher level of qualification (but always accessible, we reassure you!).
Theme cruises
As fleets grew, Sunsail came up with the idea of organising themed cruises. This started with Wine and Food Flotillas that take place in Italy and Croatia where crews discover the local flavours. Then, to offer a sailing experience crowned with encounters, Sunsail came up with the idea of offering "Childless" flotillas. The aperitifs at anchor are calmer and more conducive to encounters. Finally, for lovers of freebooters, the "Rum Tasting" flotilla in the Virgin Islands will introduce you to the distilleries and taverns once frequented by these pirates.
