Portable boat, easy mast.

Opting for a transportable sailboat can impress the yachtsman when it comes to mast. But the shipyards have thought of everything to make this maneuver very simple, even possible by one person alone.

The transportable boat is a superb solution to solve the thorny question of the berth (lack of space and consequent price). But if a small sailboat can easily land on a trailer and be towed behind a car, what to do with its mast?

Masting and dismasting can seem delicate for the user. Getting that pole on your boat is still tedious for some. Fortunately, small yacht shipyards like the German Sailart have addressed this problem... providing simple and effective solutions.

On small boats (up to 19 feet, less than 6 m) you can mount your mast alone, without needing a specific goat. The video below shows a single man dismasting and re-masting his Sailart 19 without any effort.

For this manoeuvre, he just hit the spinnaker halyard on the end of the dolphinière. Then once the forestay is free from the bow, he lets the mast down by gradually dropping the halyard from the piano winch onto the deckhouse. Once the mast is almost horizontal, it can be accommodated and guided in its support at the transom.

For larger boats like the Sailart 24, the operation is also possible by a single person but on condition that you choose an optional"goat". This stainless steel metal triangle follows the shape of the front axle. This triangle pivots at the same time as the mast goes down, giving the halyard a larger lever arm. When sailing, this triangle does not hinder, because it remains flat on deck, even serving as a footrest if the boat heels.

With this type of system, launching and matting is no longer a problem. The yachtsman can quickly enjoy his sailboat and take to the open sea even if he is lonely.
