Even ashore, don't miss anything about the Brest 2016 Grand Parade!

The Great Maritime Parade which closes the Brest Festival can also be admired from the land. Here are some strategic points to admire more than a thousand sailing ships gathered in a great aquatic ballet.

On July 19, 2016, the sailboats of the Fêtes Maritimes de Brest will sail from Brest to Douarnenez (for some while others will go back to their sailing) in a Great Maritime Parade. 1050 sailboats will be gathered in Brest harbor and will ensure the show on the water, among which the Hermione , the Belem , la Recouvrance or the macif trimaran . But it is not enough to be on the water to be able to admire the thousands of boats sailing between the pile of pitch. The show can also be admired from the land for breathtaking views. The flotilla will pass through the Brest Narrows, in front of the Pointe du Toulinguet and the Pointe du Minou, along the Tas de Pois, around the Cap de la Chèvre to enter the Bay of Douarnenez or reach the open sea.

Departures will be staggered so that spectators can fully enjoy the parade. The boats should be off the peninsula around noon and arrive in Douarnenez from 3 pm.

The points of Minou, of the Spaniards, of Toulinguet, of Penhir, of La Jument, of Milier as well as the Cap de la Chèvre will be specially fitted out so that the public can benefit from an exceptional point of view on the Atlantic.

Around 8:30/9:00 a.m. at Pointe des Espagnols

Located on the Crozon peninsula, it marks the entrance to the Brest harbor. At this place, you can admire the boats entering the gully to reach the open sea.

How to get there: it is located in the north of the Roscanvel peninsula. Impossible to miss it, the road goes all around the peninsula.

To see: the fortification (accessible by a small staircase) from which you will have a very broad sight on the sea, the Long Island (military base) and the town of Brest.

Around 10 am at Pointe du Minou

The Pointe du Minou is located in the commune of Plouzané and will allow you to admire the boats at the exit of the roadstead of Brest from the morning.

How to get there: from Brest, take the direction of Le Conquet. After six traffic circles, turn left (direction Plouzané-Le Minou).

Ãeuros see: the fort, the lighthouse.

Around 11 am at the Pointe du Toulinguet

Located at the end of the peninsula of Crozon, it offers a view on the exit of the roadstead of Brest.

How to get there : in Camaret-sur-mer, go to the end of the quay then turn left towards Pointe du Toulinguet.

Ãeuros to see: the lighthouse and the Toulinguet semaphore. By taking the GR34 towards the tip of Pen-Hir you can discover the very pretty cove of Pen Hat, the alignments of Lagatjar and the ruins of the castle of Saint-Pol-Roux.

Around 1 pm at La Pointe de Pen-Hir

It is located in the commune of Camarat and offers a view of the sea and the Tas de Pois.

How to get there : Very well indicated from Camaret

To see: the monument to the Bretons of Free France, not far from the Memorial Museum of the Battle of the Atlantic (blockhouse, fort) from where you can also admire the parade.

About 2:00 p.m. at Cap de La Chèvre

It is the tip of the Crozon peninsula facing south, facing the coast of Cap Sizun and the Bay of Douarnenez.

How to get there: on foot or with the shuttle bus that leaves from Morgat. Please note that the parking lot will be closed to the cape, as it is reserved for emergency services and people with reduced mobility. The access to the parking area will be forbidden from July 18th at 4 pm.

Ãeuros to see: the seaport (which is not visited), the Mémorial of the Naval Aeronautics, the small hamlets of thatched houses by taking the GR34, the creeks with turquoise waters (Lostmarc'h, Saint-Hernotâeuros¦). On the way back, stop at Morgat, an old fishing village, with a nice beach and many bars and restaurants.

Around 3 p.m. at Pointe du Millier

This point on the commune of Beuzec-Cap-Sizun and offers a superb sight on the Bay of Douarnenez, since the coastal path GR34.

How to get there: From the town of Beuzec-Cap-Sizun, follow the signs.

To see : the Millier lighthouse (the building belongs to the heritage of the lighthouses and beacons and it is forbidden to enter), the water mill of Keriolet, the Saint-Conogan chapel and the covered alley of Kerbalanec.
