Stopover in the port of Morgat, Finistère

Located in the Crozon peninsula, in the North of the Douarnenez bay, the port of Morgat is nestled in a natural setting. A nice stopover to discover this seaside resort, its rugged coasts and its large beaches.

Nestled in the heart of the Regional Natural Park of Armorique and the Marine Park of Iroise, marking the beginning of the Crozon peninsula, between Brest and Douarnenez, the cove of Morgat opens to the West on the Iroise Sea between the Pointe du Raz and the Cap de La Chèvre.

This is the story of a small sardine fishing port that in 1884 met Louis Richard and the Peugeot family. They decided to found a seaside resort there. Even today, the edges of the beach are home to many villas including the " villa Ker ar Bruck "This house was designed by Gustave Eiffel, with iron structure, frame and siding.

In Morgat, activities are numerous. Starting with the attraction of the big fine sand beach ranked 14th most beautiful beach in the world (The Guardian February 2016).

The cove is ideal for water activities with a sailing club, a beach passion point, kayak rentals and a diving center.

It is possible to learn to sail a catamaran with Catavoile29 or visit the numerous sea caves with the Vedettes Sirènes .

In the surrounding area, more than 40 km of coastal paths with rich and varied vegetation lead to heavenly coves. Among them, the famous virgin Island with its airs of Corsican landscape. A wild cove with turquoise waters lined with maritime pines, one of the most unusual and exotic anchorages, very popular in summer.

As for surfing, Morgat has beaches overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, such as La Palue or Goulien, considered as one of the essential spots of the tip of Brittany.

The port is protected by an arched dike and two moles now reserved for fishing. It is accessible at all tide times thanks to a dredged channel (2015). The depth can vary from 1 meter to four meters depending on the tidal range, so be careful at low tide during high coefficients.

It has 750 places on pontoons reserved for boats of less than 12 m and 40 moorings. The visitors' pontoon, at the foot of the crane and next to the gas station (CB 24 hours a day), offers 25 places. Showers and laundry facilities are located under the harbor master's office and the port has a free Wi-Fi connection.
