The Indoor Funboard Indoor makes its comeback in Paris with a host of stars


On April 1 and 2, 2016, the Indoor windsurfing event will make its comeback in Paris, at the AccorHotels Arena (Bercy). Cancelled several years ago, this great competition has marked the 90s and is about to reopen its doors thanks to the French Sailing Federation.

The Indoor funboard race organized by Fred Beauchêne and the French Sailing Federation will take place on 1 er and April 2 at the AccorHotels Arena (former Palais omnisports de Paris Bercy). This great gathering will bring together the world's funboard elite, but also all lovers of the discipline. A must-attend windsurfing event in the 90s, it was organized in 2014 in Warsaw.

Meet on Friday, April 1 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 5 p.m

A host of stars

For its big return to Paris, the Indoor de France will welcome the great champions of the discipline, who made the great hours of funboarding in the 90s. Robby Naish (24 world titles) will be accompanied by Erik Thiémé and Manolot Barlet, former winners of the Indoor de France, Antoine Albeau (who just won a 23 e world title), Nik Baker or Robert Teriitehau (7 times French champion, 3 times world indoor champion).

It will also be necessary to count with the young generation as José Gollito Estredo, four times world champion of freestyle, Victor Fernando Lopez, Ricardo Campello, Marcillo Browne or the French team of Funboard represented by Delphine Cousin, Alice Arutkin, Pierre Mortefon and Thomas Traversa.

Two days of competitions

For the occasion, a lagoon-pool in which 30 blowers will blow will welcome professionals and amateurs for two crazy evenings. The two days of competition will take place in stable winds of over 30 knots (force 6).

On the program: slalom sessions, freestyle demos, sail running and jumping, but also SUP and Open Bics/Laser contests (new).

Slalom

There will be 16 men with direct eliminations in heats of 4. 13 direct selections and 3 qualifiers from the trial sessions where the 20 best slalom competitors of the AFF French Stage Slalom Championship will compete.

The women will be in a table of 12, animated by 9 direct qualifiers and three from the qualifications where the 10 best slalom girls of the AFF French Slalom Stage Championship will compete.

Jump

A field of 16 men is planned, with 13 directly selected and 3 qualified among the 10 best riders of the French Wave Championship. The ranking will be done by points, on three jumps. Same principle for the women, with 8 selected.

Freestyle

Six guest riders will be demonstrating at the All Star Wind Games.

Sail running

Teams formed by a skipper and a young person will compete in three relay races, with an overall ranking by points.
