RÜYA

Interior design: Sorgiovanni Designs

Builder : Alia Yachts

This category "Interior Design" attracts many participants every year and this year was no exception. The pre-selection committee had a hard time limiting the number of participants to 10. The selected interior designers included both newcomers and industry veterans and the designs ranged from traditional to industrial chic.

The judges selected the interior design by Australian Sam Sorgiovanni, for his compact 5-cabin yacht with large living areas thanks to its nearly 9m beam and smart layout for excellent crew service. The main feature of the superyacht is its 3-story marble atrium staircase.

The owner's brief was a relaxing, family-oriented yacht with an upscale, yet unpretentious vacation feel. Sorgiovanni's design retains fresh, lively elements with a wide range of materials and textures used for geometric effect and a color palette of ochre and turquoise blue inspired by northwestern Australia.

The exposed grains of the wood surfaces - primarily bamboo and Australian silk oak - and the hand-cut stone patterns take center stage to create a compelling and modern backdrop for exploring the world.

Savannah

Interior Designer: CG Design

Manufacturer: Feadship, De Vries

Interior design is a world where discerning and sophisticated owners challenge their design teams to produce something beautiful and personalized. Such is the case with Savannah, even though it is only the second yacht from this design team. The owner, who knows the studio well, asked for continuity of indoor and outdoor entertaining spaces, visual contact with the sea and a variety of living spaces for different activities.

The Parisian studio responded to the request with a layout where walls, ceilings, furniture and element patterns are developed on curved lines to accentuate fluidity through natural and organic forms.

The window architecture draws less attention to the shape of the windows than to the exterior view. Judges also appreciated the half-submarine lounge and theater, the secret observation room forward, the stunning lighting design, the floating bridge and the main deck lounge, which is a continuous space with the swim platform.

Nikata

Interior design: Nauta Design

Builder : Baltic Yachts

Nikata is the 3 e custom yacht built by Baltic Yachts, with the collaboration of Nauta Design. The studio was well aware of the shipyard's capabilities for lightweight construction. To meet the performance characteristics and speed required by the owner, the weight of the yacht was kept below 88 tons to remain light. On the other hand, it was not to compromise on modern comfort.

Another of the interior constraints was that the design had to accommodate a lifting keel, which meant designing the owner and VIP accommodations around a large vertical keel box. The interior layout cleverly places the crew cabins, navigation station, galley and engine access aft with direct access to the helm area on deck.

The use of light oak woodwork and furnishings brings interior brightness to all four cabins (plus the crew cabin) while an innovative T-shaped roof skylight offsets the small window area in the deckhouse and brings plenty of light to the open living space below, which features a TV room separate from the salon. The contemporary theme complements a simple, harmonious interior design that is distinguished by the consistent use of natural materials.
