Amazon, Winston Churchill's yacht is for sale

The yacht Amazone, built in 1936 for Winston Churchill, is now moored in Limay, in the Yvelines, and is used as a home and reception area. It is currently for sale through Coldwell Banker Paris West Residential, an agency specializing in the sale of luxury homes. Its price? 2 million euros.

Amazone is a yacht built in 1935 by Tornycrofts, at the Thornycroft shipyard on the south coast of England, for Prime Minister Winston Churchill. In 1940, during the Second World War, she took part in Operation Dynamo (Battle of Dunkirk) and received the honors of the British army.

In 1990, it was completely restored in Wales by its new owner, the businessman C.H. Bailey. She was then renamed Welsh Liberty. From 1990 to 2002, this yacht is considered as one of the most beautiful cruising yachts in the world and was seen at many social events: Monaco Grand Prix, Cannes Festival, Seville Fair, American Olympic Games. She has also sailed all over the world.

In 2005, Mrs. MH, Architect-Decorator, fell under the charm of this boat and decided to give it back its initial character, as in the time of Winston Churchill. It has therefore recovered its baptismal name, Amazon and undergone some transformations. The wheelhouse has kept the typical aspect of the 30's, the chart table traces all the itineraries since 1936 and contains treasures of information for the travel lovers.

Amazone is a steel yacht built on 3 decks, with a living area of 650 m2 and 1000 m2 of terraces and balconies. Her length is 41.63 m excluding the rudder, her width is 6.4 m including projections, for a draft of 3.51 m. After two total restorations in 1990 and 2005, it is again in the image of its prestigious owner. It has 6 suites, including 2 of more than 25 m2.
