A real success for the 10th edition of the Fort Boyard Challenge


This weekend was the 10th edition of the Fort Boyard Challenge in Fouras and it was a great success.

This event, which has become an essential meeting place for the Rochefort Océan agglomeration community as well as for professionals, celebrated its anniversary in the most beautiful way. 330 participants in the 3 disciplines, a record number of participants!

Windsurfing, the favorite competition of the event welcomed 162 participants. The final of the French Va'a canoe cup counted 108 participants, divided into 18 V6 canoes. But the one that attracted the largest number of enthusiasts and athletes was the Stand-up paddle event. In very strong progression, it almost reached the maximum gauge of 60 participants.

The SUP in the spotlight

For this 10 e edition, the Fort Boyard Challenge offered itself a new SUP course. The suppers embarked at the Pointe de la Fumée in Fouras and were taken offshore for a 10 km downwind course, leading them to the island of Aix.

Dimitri Georges, the winner of the 2014 edition, wins the title once again, just ahead of Ludovic Dulou, the 2015 World Champion of the 40+ age group and 2015 French Paddleboard Champion, and Franck Le Ven (regularly ranked among the best French SUPers).

In the women's category, it is Olivia Piana, vice-champion of the world 2014 of the discipline who wins. Ãeuros the second place we find Sylvie Marin and in the third, Karine Dormet.

Windsurfing, star of the challenge

This year was also prolific for windsurfing, as 100 participants managed to get to and around Fort Boyard. Over the two days, Clément Bozec was the fastest to reach the beach of Fouras. Olivier Bernard and Yoann Fleury arrived, respectively, at the 2nd place e and 3rd place.

The dugout competition was very positive. The second race confirmed the leaders of the day before and the winning crew was the one from Fontenay-le-Comte. The crew of the bay of Somme followed, then the one of Sables-d'Olonne. These 3 clubs will take off for the famous Hawaïki Wui race.
