Floating
The IC-M25 is a floating laptop. Drop it in the water - unintentionally of course! - and it stays afloat. In addition, a red flashing light is instantly triggered by the water to locate it at night.
Small and light
To make a floating VHF, Icom like other manufacturers, had no choice but to make a bulky VHF to enclose air. Very light (barely 220 g) the IC-M25 can also be very compact (56.5 x 134.2 x 30.5 mm). A really tiny model when you hold it in your hand and it floats. Nice achievement from Icom!
Automatic cleaning
Icom has developed for some time now a function that removes water on the surface of the speaker to have a clear listening, called AquaQuake. A deep sound, a strong vibration of the speaker that drives out the water on the surface. To activate it, you had to press a combination of keys. On the new IC-M25 model this function is activated automatically as soon as the VHF gets out of the water.
A universal charger
The IC-M25 has a Micro-B USB plug under the transmit button. This is the same plug as the one used on cell phones (except iPhone). Thus this portable VHF can be recharged on a conventional USB socket, either via a 12V adapter, or directly on the USB port of a computer. The VHF is delivered in series with a 220 V - Micro-B USB cable. The same cable installed on board can be used for several devices. Good news!
Tastes and colors
Icom did not make its reputation of serious products by working on colors. Icom products are quite strict, very far from a game boy. For the IC-M25, the Japanese manufacturer tries the color card, but with moderation ... Thus the front of the portable VHF can choose to receive blue (for the most daring color!), gray or white. In addition to the look, this choice will help to differentiate several VHF within the same park.
Attractive even in its price
Offered at less than 200 euros (199.07 euros incl. VAT 2021 price), the IC-M25 retains the quality of Japanese manufacturing, attractive technical features and a competitive price.
