White Ocean, the combination of wood construction and haute couture

The Dubourdieu shipyard (Gujan-Mestras) in association with the Courrèges house has just launched a new model of elegant boat built in wood, with the colors of the high fashion house.

The Dubourdieu shipyard has been specializing in the construction of custom-made wooden motorboats since 1800. It is one of the oldest shipyards in activity and designs fast and elegant day-cruisers in mahogany, but also custom-made yachts up to 18 meters.

In association with Courrèges, Dubourdieu presents the White Ocean, a mahogany and teak boat. The two houses have joined forces to design a boat with pure and slender lines built with noble materials. Courrège designer Julien Gaubert designed the boat. Elegant and modern, its colors all in white transparency, mirror effect are the codes of the design of Courrège. The interior of the boat also reflects the lines of the haute couture house with its Plexiglas tables on mirror polished stainless steel legs, or with the use of white Kerrock on the dashboard and the furniture. The saddlery of the sunbathing areas will bear the Courrège logo, as will the bath sheets, the beach bag and the crew uniforms. It took 4,000 hours of work to build this boat from the hull of the Picnic Sport, Dubourdieu's best-seller. Manufactured in only 5 copies, one of which will be the property of the shipyard and intended for rental, it will be necessary to pay between 560,000 and 680,000 euros to have access to one of these luxurious boats.

Designed for day sailing, the White Ocean has a large U-shaped saloon in the bow with white benches and a Plexiglas table as well as plenty of storage space. In the aft cockpit, there is a pilot's seat on the starboard side with a steering wheel and touch screens for navigation with GPS, plotters, tachometer, battery charge indicators and gauges. There is also a large built-in refrigerated cupboard and, on the port side, a cabinet with solid teak doors and hinged panels hiding an electric toilet. At the stern, a solid teak and white Kerrock galley cabinet houses a Nespresso coffee machine, a kettle, a cigarette lighter socket and storage units. On the other side, we find the same furniture with a white Kerrock sink and stainless steel faucets with storage and a cooler. Again, there is a large U-shaped bench seat, with a plexiglass table on each side (port and starboard). The rear cockpit is protected by a fixed wooden hard top. A large sunbathing area overlooking the engine hood opens onto an integrated teak bathing platform.

The Courrège house was created in 1961 and quickly established itself in the world of haute couture and design. Bought in 2011 by new owners, it is experiencing a revival in all its sectors of activity: ready-to-wear, accessories, perfume, eyewear design product or architectural projects.
