Azimut Yachts is releasing a new yacht model, the Magellano 66, the design of which began some time ago. The first model will be available in summer 2015, but will be officially presented in September 2015 at the Yachting Cannes Festival. This 20-meter unit is built in the image of the yachts in the Magellano collection, whose specificity is the Dual Mode hull. The objective is to offer a versatile boat that ensures a comfortable ride in both moderate and rough seas. This required the development of keels that were profoundly different from those found on a planing hull. The hull of the Magellano collection softens the impact of waves, thanks to its vertical bow. At the same time, the large forward volume minimizes pitching and provides constant buoyancy, even when the boat is in the trough of a wave. As a result, water has difficulty reaching the main deck, providing a sense of security for both skipper and passengers. The design of the Magellano allows to "swallow" the miles, for a great pleasure of navigation and sailing in a yacht with Italian elegance.

A spacious and elegant interior
The Magellano 66 offers surprisingly spacious interior accommodations for its 20 x 5.4 m. It is available in two versions, the standard and the navetta. The main deck is on one level, with a large sliding door leading to the cockpit. At the back, at the front of the boat, we find the kitchen and the cockpit. The interior of the saloon is elegant, functional and has an unobstructed view of the horizon through large windows. In the standard version, there is a large L-shaped sofa for the lounge area with a mini-bar and TV cabinet, as well as a dining area close to the helm station and the kitchen.

In the Navetta version, the saloon/dining area is separated from the cockpit/kitchen by a sliding door, for greater privacy, just like the larger boats. The crew can work without having to access the owners' area. A door in the galley provides direct access to the outside of the boat, so the crew can reach their cabins without having to cross the salon. Similarly, the owner and guests can reach their cabins without having to cross the cockpit and the galley. The Navetta version also benefits from a greater view of the water with sliding doors and hatches, which facilitate docking by providing greater visibility.

On the lower deck, there is a large owner's suite that runs the full width of the boat with a spacious bedroom bathed in natural light and its private bathroom with shower and toilet. The whole is elegant, but also practical with a sufficient number of storage spaces. The owner has a large space with a large closet for "him" and "her", a chest of drawers, a dressing table and a large additional storage space under the bed. There is also a VIP cabin and a smaller bedroom with 2 single beds. The 4 eme the cabin is designed to be a laundry room, but can be arranged with two bunk beds on request. The washing machine and dryer will then be located along the corridor.

The flybridge of the Magellano 66 has, in addition to a steering position and a lounge area, a large aft deck, which can accommodate deckchairs or a sunbathing area. The whole is illuminated and can be protected by an awning. Like the Magellano 53, the 66 has a large saloon at the bow of the boat with ample storage space for all the equipment on board. There are also large storage spaces at the front of the flybridge.

The Magellano 66 is equipped with two Volvo Penta D 13,800 hp diesel engines, which put it in the line of modern long-range yachts. She sails at 9 knots fully loaded and has a range of 900 miles (with an additional 10% reserve). Its Dual Mode hull with double chines optimizes navigation, both when moving and at anchor. Its cruising speed is 16 to 18 knots and its maximum speed is 22 knots.

Magellano Collection
In 2008, Azimut Yachts created a new way of sailing with the launch of the Magellano 74, the modern trawler. This collection is for those who do not want to simply own a boat, but to discover the world while enjoying the sea. Magellano yachts combine travel with comfort and elegance. What qualifies them are good navigation, good directional stability, and reduced fuel consumption thanks to the innovative Dual Mode hull that allows you to adapt your speed to the navigation conditions.
