On Tuesday, December 9, during the Paris Boat Show, Benedict Donnelly, President of the Hermione-La Fayette Association, and François Cuillandre, Mayor of Brest and President of Brest Métropole Océane, made official the Hermione's stopover in Brest on her return from the United States in August 2015.

The Breton stopover will take place from August 10 to 17, 2015 and will be the first French stopover after her American voyage. It will also be an opportunity to highlight the strong link between Brest and the Hermione, since La Fayette had disembarked here on February 6, 1779, after his first American campaign. Visits to the quay will be organized for the public.

A second date has also been set for 2016! From July 13 to 19, the International Maritime Festivals of Brest will take place on the theme of America, a great opportunity for the La Fayette ship to take part in the celebrations.

Resumption of testing in March 2015

This first round of tests, conducted in the fall, was more than positive and new tests will begin in March 2015, before the big departure for the United States. The crew will total 78 people, 15 professional sailors and many volunteers. The 4-month, 7,500-mile voyage will have stops in American cities historically linked to the American Revolution.

L'Hermione is back in its refit form

On December 5, the frigate was able to return to its home port, the Napoleon III dry dock. Stuck in the commercial port of Rochefort, first because of a silting up of its platform, then because of a strike notice of the lock keepers and dredgers, she made this transfer under the eyes of the curious.

From now on, the frigate will be able to undergo some maintenance work: maintenance of the sails, the yards, the ropes, carried out by volunteers and craftsmen. The last historical element of the Hermione, the stern lantern, a lantern of 1.60 meters, financed by public donations, will be manufactured by the forge.

Visits to the Hermione take place every day until mid-March from 10 am to 12:30 pm and from 2 pm to 6 pm.
