Condor Ferries, the shipping company linking Saint-Malo to the Channel Islands and England, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and adding another ship to its fleet.

A growing company that carries one million passengers each year

Created in 1964 by two Guernsey shipowners, Peter Dorey and Jack Norman, and based in Poole, England, Condor Ferries operates between Saint-Malo, Jersey, Guernsey and England. It carries both cargo and passengers and has 5 ships to its credit, 3 fast sister ships for passengers (Condor Express, Condor Vitesse and Condor Rapide) and 2 for cargo (Commodore Goodwill and Commodore Clipper). Today Condor Ferries carries more than one million passengers, 200,000 passenger vehicles and 100,000 freight vehicles. A new boat to complete the current fleet

To support the fleet of five current vessels, the company, which has 650 employees, will acquire a boat "new generation" which will be delivered in spring 2015. This news was announced by James Fulford, CEO of Condor Ferries. However, one condition must be met for the vessel to join the company, a " 10-year license "This is to be issued by the States of Jersey and Guernsey. Discussions are currently underway. This new vessel will offer higher transport services: it will be larger, measuring 102 m instead of the current 86 m, and will be able to carry 900 passengers instead of the current 770, and 235 vehicles instead of 150. Finally, it will be more comfortable and able to face a 5-meter high swell.
