Spinlock compressible waterproof bags, how to gain volume without drowning your equipment

A waterproof bag is great, but it quickly takes up space when it's half full. Spinlock has added a compression valve to its new 15 L and 25 L roll-top bags. The idea is simple: organize your gear and reduce volume, without promising watertightness when submerged.

On a sailboat, as on a motorboat, storage is often a matter of closing a locker. Spinlock has come up with roll-top compressible waterproof bags, equipped with a one-way valve to expel air. It's not about looking pretty, it's about managing volume, dryness and fragility in a humid environment.

Volume, a discreet enemy on board

Watch clothes, thermal diapers or stopover nappies quickly take up space. Even when properly folded, these items remain bulky and fill up trunks faster than expected. Squeezable bags allow these flexible items to be packed into a more manageable volume, without altering storage habits. Once closed, they slip more easily under a bench seat or at the bottom of a travel bag.

A valve designed to expel air

The special feature of these Spinlock bags is their integrated one-way valve. After closing the roll top, the air can be expelled by compressing the bag, with no possibility of return (except by opening the bag). The principle is simple, requiring no pumps or special accessories. This compression makes the bag more stable and limits the ballooning effect often encountered with conventional partially-filled waterproof bags.

Waterproof for everyday use, with no promise of immersion

The roll top closure ensures protection against water under normal sailing conditions. Rain, spray, run-off on deck or a damp trunk floor - these bags are designed for these common situations. However, Spinlock specifies that this waterproofing is not intended for prolonged immersion. An important nuance to bear in mind, especially when carrying electronic equipment or sensitive documents.

Two capacities to organize by use

The 15 L and 25 L sizes cover most on-board needs. The smaller size is ideal for personal items, a change of dry clothes or equipment for a day's outing. The 25 L can hold a complete change of clothes, watch clothes or bulky equipment. This volume logic encourages organization by category, rather than stacking without hierarchy.

Proposed from ? 28.90 incl. VAT depending on capacity, these bags are primarily intended for sailors faced with volume and humidity constraints. They do not replace a dedicated submersible bag (such as a Grab-Bag), but are ideal for the day-to-day management of equipment, clothing and personal belongings.
