Joli Morgann and Morgann 5.50: a neoclassical signature back afloat
The AP Yachting shipyard, based in Les Clouzeaux in the Vendée region, announces the resumption of production of two yachts that have made their mark on the pontoons: the Joli Morgann (6.80 meters) and the Morgann 5.50 (5.50 meters). Designed by architect Jean-Yves Manac'h and originally launched by the Franck Roy shipyard, these boats are characterized by a blend of polyester hulls and varnished wood finishes, notably mahogany. This transportable neoclassical architecture is still popular today.
Boosted by workshop experience
Antoine Potier, former workshop manager at Franck Roy, initiated the takeover via his company AP Yachting. Used to restoring these yachts, he explains that he was approached by several owners. He is now putting his know-how to work to offer new boats, while continuing the restoration work.
"S ollowing extensive restoration and maintenance work on these models, some owners have asked me to restart production "he explains. It's all part of a local, artisanal approach, with a particular focus on customized construction.
Custom-built and discreetly modernized
While the original aesthetics are scrupulously respected, the new units will incorporate modern equipment. This applies in particular to fittings, navigation systems and on-board comfort equipment, which remain discreet to preserve the classic soul of the boat. Construction remains in polyester laminate, a choice that ensures robustness, limited maintenance and weight control for transport.
The interior and exterior woodwork remains in varnished mahogany, a noble and aesthetic material, much sought-after in this type of traditional-looking yacht.

Sailboats designed for versatility and ease of launching
Both the Joli Morgann and the Morgann 5.50 are appreciated for their ease of launching and maneuverability. Equipped with retractable daggerboards, these yachts can be easily transported on a trailer, an asset for coastal sailing or inland waters. Their seaworthy behavior means they can be sailed in complete safety, whether single-handed or with a small crew, for day or multi-day sailing programs.
A loyal clientele and a nautical heritage to preserve
Enthusiasts of these models are often sensitive to nautical heritage and pleasure sailing. These yachts are part of a French tradition of elegant, accessible pleasure boating. The relaunch of these units is aimed at a niche of enthusiasts, often already owners or looking for a boat that is maneuverable, transportable and aesthetically pleasing.
