Archipelago Yachts secures financing for its hydrogen-powered powercats

British offshore catamaran builder Archipelago Yachts has announced that it has secured financing to produce its range of hydrogen-powered catamarans. A first step towards decarbonization.

At the heart of innovation and sustainability, Archipelago Yachts recently closed a remarkable funding round, raising 157% of its initial target on the Crowdcube platform. Launched on March 22, 2024, the funding round attracted 174 investors in just 20 days, accumulating a total of £236,996 against a target of £150,000. The funds will be used primarily to strengthen the company's marketing strategies and expand its presence in Europe and the United States, capitalizing on the brand's initial success.

Hydrogen-powered catamarans

Archipelago Yachts stands out for its environmental commitment. The British builder of offshore powercats is aiming for carbon neutrality by 2040. With this in mind, the brand offers hybrid vessels and has developed the world's first zero-carbon emission boat powered by methanol, the Archipelago zero.63. This sustainable pleasure boat is equipped with an innovative propulsion system for silent cruising at up to 10 knots, and can reach a maximum speed of 22 knots thanks to its direct methanol injection engine.

A range already planned

The company is supported by Chartwell Marine, a company renowned for designing next-generation vessels that combine high performance with respect for the environment. The Archipelago range currently includes the Archipelago 40, 47, 52 Flybridge, 63 and soon the 80, all designed by Chartwell Marine's award-winning naval architects. With these innovations, Archipelago Yachts continues to redefine the standards of luxury yachting while affirming its commitment to sustainability and technological excellence.
