We take a look at the regatta and offshore racing news for the week of April 15 to 21, 2023. Re-launch, new partners, launch of hostilities... Here is a summary of what you should not miss.

A new sponsor for Clarisse Crémer

Silent for two months, Clarisse Crémer resurfaced this April 20, 2023 to announce a new partner. Accompanied by L'Occitane en Provence, she will be coached by Alex Thomson and will sail aboard the ex-Apivia, recovered by the British sailor's team. From now on, the team must organize itself to build a team and participate in the races of the circuit to accumulate as many miles as possible to line up at the start of the Vendée Globe 2024.

Breaking speed records on the Prince of Speed 2023

From April 21 to 30, 2023, the Prince of Speed will welcome some of the world's best windsurfing stars. This event will host the ISWC World Speed Championships on the beach of Rouet, in La Palme, Aude. 5 world titles will be at stake: Windsurf Open, Windsurf Women, Youth Open, Youth Women, Windfoil Open.

Tanguy Le Turquais has found his sponsor!

Accompanied by the Lazare homelessness association, Tanguy le Turquais has finally found the sponsor who will accompany him to the Vendée Globe 2024. Hellio, a player in energy efficiency, will support the sailor at the helm of his IMOCA in the association's colors.

The French Olympic Week, the "Roland-Garros of Olympic sailing"

From April 22 to 29, the harbor of Hyères will host the French Olympic Week, an international meeting where the different Olympic supports will be present after the Trofeo Princesa Sofía. The French team made a remarkable comeback with 4 medals, including gold for Lauriane Nolot in kitefoil, silver for Lucie Belbeoch in iQFOiL, bronze for Axel Mazella and Poema Newland in kitefoil. Only the iQFOil riders will be missing, as they are preparing for their European Championship which will take place in Greece from May 8 to 14.

Actual Ultim 3 back in the water

The red and grey maxi trimaran Actual Ultim 3 has been relaunched in Lorient under the eyes of her new skipper Anthony Marchand. After three months of sailing with Paul Meilhat on Biotherm for The Ocean Race, the sailor will now be able to train on his boat, which returned to its home port of La Trinité sur Mer on April 19, before the start of the Armen Race on May 18.

Heading for the 12th edition of the Voiles de St-Barth Richard Mille

On Monday, April 17, 2023, at noon, the first races of the Voiles de St. Barth Richard Mille were launched. 600 sailors have been entered in this eclectic edition. There are high level sportsmen, such as Loïc Escoffier, whose first participation, Loïck Peyron or Jean-Pierre Dick. The regattas will be run on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by an off day on Thursday and two more days of racing on Friday and Saturday. The different classes will start in 7 distinct groups on the starting line of each race: CSA 4, CSA 3, CSA 2, CSA 1, followed by the big boats that are the Maxi, the multihulls and the Diam 24. In total, the sailors will have the opportunity to sail on 28 possible courses from 8 to 47 miles and up to three races can be launched each day.

Spring work for the Maxi Edmond de Rothschild

While April normally marks the return of the boats to the water, this is not the case for the Gitana Team and the Maxi Edmond de Rothschild. The maxi-trimaran was taken out of the water on 13 April and is now entering the spring refit, after waiting for a window - which has finally not arrived - for the Jules Verne Trophy. Over the next three months, the team will be busy maintaining and developing the boat for the next major race, the 2023 Transat Jacques Vabre.

Start of the second race of the Atlantic Challenge

After Ian Lipinski's victory on the first leg of the Atlantic Challenge, the 13 Class40s set off from Horta on April 16 towards La Rochelle. The three leaders, Crédit Mutuel with Ian Lipinski, Ambrogio Beccaria with Alla Grande Pirelli and Alberto Bona on IBSA, all have the ability to win this 1,300-mile course. The first Class40s are expected to arrive in La Rochelle this Friday, April 21 and will be visible all weekend in the bassin des Chalutiers.
