Equipment Weekly / From deck fittings to survival equipment

This week, our equipment section is on deck. Whether it is small equipment or more substantial equipment or for survival, here are 3 atypical products that can be of great service on board sailing boats.

Tiki Factory Sail In Boom, an inflatable park-avenue boom

In partnership with Dufour, Tiki Factory, specialist of inflatable paddle, has developed a rigid inflatable lazy bag. The principle implemented is to constitute the equivalent of a canoe boom by connecting 2 rigid inflatable cheeks built in Dropstich PVC mounted on a zipper. This product meets 2 needs: it facilitates the recovery of the mainsail at the time of lowering, and protects the mainsail from UV and wind once lowered. The Sail In Boom is available for booms from 2.70 m to 5.10 m. Starting at 1299 euros including VAT.

Nodus Pad-Spinner, a spinner for bumps and peaks

To guide a rope, the rope guide is installed on the deck, mast or boom. The Nodus novelty can be glued everywhere. Installation is therefore quick and easy. The polymer used for the manufacturing is extremely light, and even more resistant. In fact, the rope grab weighs just 11.4 g and can withstand loads of 250 kg using Nodus-Loc glue. It can accept ropes up to 12 mm, but is designed to work with 10 mm. In addition to the glue, it can also be fixed with 2 screws. Available at 38,40 euros TTC.

Revolve, the rolling VHF antenna

Remember the Revolve gaff that rolls up? Now comes the VHF antenna built with the same technology. It is an emergency antenna which connects directly behind a portable or non-portable VHF with its 6 m cable. With its size of 2.50 m it comfortably increases the range of a VHF, if in case of misfortune one should dismast. It is delivered in a small soft bag and also has a flashlight that is attached to its end. The product to have with you in your raft. Available in France at Seaview Progress at 260 euros TTC
