Offer a more affordable electric boat
With the launch of its X-Shore One, the Swedish shipyard started from its Eelex 8000 model to create the most economical electric boat possible. This new model, 6.50 m long and 2.20 m wide, is proposed at a basic price of 99,000 euros excluding tax in 2022. The fully-equipped version, without the exclusive black paint, will cost a maximum of 114,000 euros (excluding VAT). Carlos Vassallo, Mediterranean sales manager, explains: "We've been working on industrialization in our new factory. The assembly is done in 36 hours with 12 steps of 3 hours only. We also went from 2 batteries on the Eelex 8000 to 1 battery on the X-Shore One, but the motor remains the same and we keep the same finishing qualities, with the cork bridge, etc."
Electric but fast
The X-Shore One remains a fast electric boat. With its 125 kW motor, mounted with a shaft line and a 5-blade propeller, it has a maximum speed of 30 knots, which it can reach in 4 seconds. The announced cruising speed is 20 knots. The autonomy, at low speed is 50 miles.
Its 63 kWh Kreisel battery has 3600 cells, isolated from each other. The site specifies that it is possible to change them individually in case of problem.
A comfortable cockpit
The small rear deck, although modest in size, provides pleasant access to the water. The large rear trunk is topped by a bench seat. Thanks to an intelligent rail system, more rigid than the usual tilting backrests, it can be used either as a sunbathing area facing aft, as a double cockpit bench and aft deck or as a pleasant reclining seat in the cockpit.
A removable table can be placed in the cockpit.
The pilot and co-pilot seats are attached to two composite lockers that are useful for storing daily accessories. A dashboard with a large screen and a steering wheel close to the automobile offer all the necessary controls for the boat.
The X-Shore One Open features a low-profile but stylish windshield. A more protective option with a hard top incorporating an opening canvas is also available.
Minimalist front deck
By climbing 3 steps and passing through the opening central windshield, you can access a minimalist front deck without any guardrails. The front locker is without windlass or davit, as Scandinavians generally prefer to anchor aft. Given the weight of the anchor for such a boat, this is still possible. Only the eel-shaped handrail, symbol of the shipyard, is above the bow.
The cushions in the cabin can be used as sunbeds on the foredeck at anchor.
A cabin to sleep at anchor
The interior of the boat is minimalist, but well finished. A large berth in the point will allow to spend a night at anchor. A chemical toilet can be installed, as well as air conditioning.
If the price remains high, the finish of the boat is qualitative and we can hope that X-Shore opens one more door towards the wide diffusion of the electric motorization in the yachting.
