An open aluminum shell
Alexandre Louvier has been selling boats for 22 years. He has worked for Riva, but also for Regal in the south of France. In collaboration with Christian Desbois and Alain Dutoit, he has just launched the brand Alium Yachts the first model is an open hull of 12.77 m long built in aluminum by the French shipyard Meta Yachts.
Alexandre Louvier explains : "Aluminum is a recyclable material and therefore in the trend of the moment. It also has the advantage of not having to make molds and therefore allows our customers greater freedom to customize."
A typical Mediterranean design
L' Alium 42S has a very contemporary design with taut lines and a deep V hull. Its bulwarks unfold over the entire rear of the cockpit, to become a true floating bathing platform. A huge stern sunbathing area, a bow sunbathing area, two side bars, refrigerators, a plancha, an ice maker, a spacious cockpit well protected behind an angular windshield, benches, a table and all the amenities of a daycruiser are on board. A cabin with central bed and toilet completes the set, even if it is not the first program of the boat.
A semi-custom design
But the strength of Alium Yachts is to offer the possibility to customize your boat, as Alexandre Louvier explains: " The 12 m long by 4 m wide platform has been well thought out and approved. We don't offer a complete custom layout, but almost. In my previous job, it happened regularly that customers wanted different layouts than what was presented. But this was not possible and the customer would then go for another model. The construction method allows the owners that freedom."
Thermal or hybrid engine
Several hull, upholstery and floor colors are available, as well as the possibility of installing a hard-top or a hybrid motorization for short-distance electric sailing. As standard, the Alium 42S is powered by two 380 horsepower Volvo Penta DPI. The speeds announced by the shipyard are 37 knots in peak and 28 knots in cruising.
The boat will be launched at the end of July and presented in Cannes in September 2022.
