A well-protected roof
The Meta 50 Howling is an evolution of the Meta 50 , offshore cruising yacht launched by Meta shipyard in 2021 . As its name suggests, this is a more "baroud" and protective model for touring boaters, looking for a boat to navigate safely in all seas. The roof has been fitted with a large cap to protect the cockpit. The mainsail track is now positioned on the cap support. In the cockpit, there is a relaxation area forward and a double helm station aft with the winches attached to the steering wheels. The seats are topped by large storage lockers.
Another change is that the transom is more closed and has a central passage, hence the absence of a dinghy box. The bathing platform with ladder is, however, wider.
A living room with a panoramic view
Like all the shipyard's models, the Meta 50 Hurlants is built in pre-stressed Strongall aluminum, offering strength and customization of the boats. Inside, the Deck Saloon layout allows a panoramic view from the saloon through the large roof window. A kitchen and a chart table complete the main living area. The owner's cabin is located forward, with its private bathroom and dressing room. A double portside bunk is positioned forward. Privacy is provided by a sliding curtain.
on the aft side, two layouts are available: on the starboard side, a double cabin with bathroom, and on the port side, the owner can choose between a skipper's cabin or a workshop.
Several customization options
Several types of appendages are offered, from the two-shell, single-shell or Turbokeel, a ballastable bi keel . The draft is between 1.85 and 2.5 m. Many customization options are offered by the shipyard in terms of the rigging, whose sail area upwind is 153 m2, or in terms of the engine: thermal or diesel-electric.
The forecasted polars of the yard announce, with 15 knots of wind, a speed of 7 knots upwind and close to 10 knots downwind.
