Amartec, a French mooring damper without noise or maintenance

Amartec is a new kind of mooring damper. Cousin of the first model launched in 2016, still developed by Romain Vallier, but simpler and cheaper, it seems promising. It works on the principle of crushing. Discovery.

Harbors subject to swell, or even anchorages that are a bit choppy, often put a strain on the mooring lines. To avoid premature wear of the equipment, a shock absorber system must be installed between the boat and the quay. Amartec is a French solution that offers many advantages to fulfill this role.

The more you pull, the more it compresses

La traction sur l'amarre (X) comprime l'Amartec (Y)
The pull on the mooring line (X) compresses the Amartec (Y)

The principle is simple: the boat is moored to the dock by a loop (e.g. a bowline). The traction on the mooring line stretches the loop and crushes the Amartec product installed on the loop. This crushing slows down the pull and acts as a shock absorber. But if the traction is too strong (more than 450 kg), the product is totally crushed and disappears. It is the loop of the mooring line that works alone. The Amartec does not change the reliability of a mooring. It just plays its role as a shock absorber (which is what we ask of it).

No noise, no maintenance

The design of the Amartec in flexible plastic (the profile is molded in natural rubber, UV resistant) makes it compress under the traction, under the effort of the mooring. It works without noise (no spring or metal part) and above all does not damage the mooring lines. It does not risk breaking and even if it were to be damaged, the boat would always remain moored identically. However, the Amartec is insensitive to the degradation of the marine environment.

Available at 59 euros

The Amartec can be adapted to all mooring lines from 10 to 18 mm. It is recommended for boats up to 14 m with a maximum displacement of 15 tons. It weighs 850 g. It is available at 59,00 euros TTC.
