We had to wait until the end of the Mini Transat 2021, for Hugo, The Sailing Frenchman to get back in touch with his computer keyboard and give us the videos of this race. In this episode, he gives us the last 10 days of preparation before the start.
It's already been two years since the sailor initiated his project to participate in this solo transatlantic race on a 6.50 m sailboat. Two years during which he sailed, participated in preparatory events and also looked for sponsors. These two years have been favourable to prepare the boat well and to validate the technical options.
Thanks to this, the last 10 days before the departure, we feel that Hugo is very serene. His boat is ready. Once the delivery to Les Sables-d'Olonne is done, all that remains is to carry out the safety checks.
Hugo explains us the interest of these controls (to avoid the cheating and to ensure the safety of the racers) with the systems of sealing which avoid any cheating. In addition, Hugo climbs one last time in his mast and cleans the hull of his Mini.
Everything is ready for the departure, a last nap before casting off
