Since 1996, Rhéa Marine has been offering a range of neo-classical motorboats for customers looking for beautiful and well-built boats. Here is an overview of its history and the models produced by the shipyard in La Rochelle.

A project born of an encounter

It was the meeting between Bertrand Danglade, a seasoned sailor, and Michel Joubert, a renowned naval architect, that gave birth to the first model of the shipyard Rhea Marine . Wishing to design a boat inspired by the traditional aesthetics of the small wooden runners that sailed along the Atlantic coast in the seventies, Bertrand Danglade and Michel Joubert designed and built the Rhea 900 in the neo-classical style.

It takes the lines of a traditional fishing boat, but with a semi-planing hull, giving it a higher speed than a displacement hull, while preserving its marine qualities. Equipped with an inboard motor on a shaft, it runs aground easily thanks to its long keel. Its safe freeboard and its walkaround deck plan allow its users to circulate in all peace of mind.

Following the success of the Rhea 900, Bertrand Danglade designed the Rhea 750 which has the same main characteristics as its predecessor. It was an immediate success, with no less than 320 units built since 1997. Its exceptional quality of construction means that the Rhea 750 is used both by pleasure boaters and by professional fishermen.

A complete range

Initially positioned in the fishing range, Rhea Marine has been able to evolve in order to offer dayboats and boats designed for coastal cruising in its catalog. The shipyard currently offers fifteen models, divided into three ranges:

  • the helmsmen
  • the opens
  • trawlers

Rhéa Timonier

The Helmsman 850

This is the most emblematic range of the shipyard. With their inimitable look, they don't go unnoticed! The helmsmen are designed for a fishing program or a simple trip. Simple, robust and safe, this range is available in four models, from 7.30 m to 9.80 m, the latter being the only model in the range to be offered with an outboard version, with two blocks developing 350 hp.

Rhea Open

L'Open 23
The Open 23

Responding to a day trip program, Rhea offers a range of 7 open boats, ranging from 23 to 35 feet. The Open range features the same elements that have made the shipyard successful (neoclassical style, safe freeboard and careful construction), with a deep-V hull powered by a powerful engine. The 23 and 27 footers are offered as outboards, while the larger models are only available as single or twin engine diesel.

Introduced in 2008, the Trawler range is designed for long-distance cruising, thanks in particular to its large storage volumes and optimized range. Multiple configurations are available: Sedan or Fly version, single or twin engine, displacement hull for the 32 or semi-planing for the others.

Present throughout France or for export via a network of dealers rhéa Marine is planning to expand its well-connected its range with the release of new, larger Open models, which are expected to be presented at the Fall 2021 shows.

Since 2018, Rhéa Marine has been integrated into the Experton Revollier group, which also owns the shipyards Latitude 46 (which produces the Tofinou) and Wauquiez . like the group's other construction sites, particular attention is paid to the quality of the materials used, as well as their implementation.

We note a strong presence of precious and solid wood on all Rhea boats, oversized fittings, polished stainless steel while maintaining a high degree of finishing. At Rhea, we make beautiful and solid products that must last over time.
