L30 One Design, a modern-day racer cruiser

Fitted out, the L30 One Design is as comfortable on the regatta start lines as at anchor in a wild cove at aperitif time. This yacht is now distributed in France by Hica Boats.

Technical data sheet

This one-design regatta yacht was first and foremost designed as a Cruiser Racer, a high-performance cruising yacht for regattas. For this, its width has been deliberately limited to 2.54 m to remain transportable on a 2-axle trailer (EB permit). Thus the boat can easily reach all the water bodies, or even several during the racing season.

To facilitate transport, the 800 kg keel can be lifted with the piano winch. Thanks to a gearbox (8-strand hoist), there is not much effort required. By raising the keel, the draught increases from 1.88 m to 0.58 m. The two rudders on the transom can be lifted up directly from the cockpit by hand. The simplest solutions are often the best at sea.

For cruising, the yacht is equipped with 4 berths, a kitchenette and a bathroom (and even a shower thanks to the water reserve installed under the front berth). The whole is comfortable and sufficient to envisage beautiful cruises. To top it all off, a swim ladder in the cockpit and even an outside shower will be very useful for swimming.

As far as navigation is concerned, this boat which starts quickly on schedule can be used in double-handed (even solo) or crewed mode. It is equipped with a retractable bowsprit (with a counter-mould in the cabin to avoid water ingress), a mast and a boom all in carbon. Thanks to the push-up spreaders, the mast can do without runners. They will only be used for fine-tuning the sails. This modern boat has a large asymmetrical spinnaker and 2 gennaks, a horn mainsail and a furling jib (installed below deck).

Even if this regatta boat was designed for one-design, it can also race in IRC (IRC 3 Gauge: 1.064). It is also a candidate for the future mixed doubles event at the 2024 Olympic Games in Marseilles. Its builder will move it from category B to category A to increase its programme. It is available in France through its distributor Hica Boats from 98,000 euros (the L30 without options or sails costs 98,000 euros and 105,000 euros with sails in cruising version) and about 160,000 euros including tax ready to race (version ''Monotype course'' which includes a large set of high-end sails, navigation instruments, autopilot, offshore raft ...). For 130,000 euros (incl. VAT) the boat is ready to sail in the cruising version with: dacron sails, mattresses, electric pack, carbon mast and boom, bowsprit, WC, galley...
