The Pacific is not far away for the crew of Maloya?! After passing through the first three locks on the Atlantic side, and a night at anchor on Gatun Lake, it is time to resume the passage of the Panama Canal to reach the Pacific Ocean.
It's another three new locks they'll have to pass through, along with a tourist boat and their Canadian boat buddy Caractère.
Unlike the previous locks, no touline apples are needed, but mooring lines are securely fastened between each boat. A delicate manoeuvre as the current is so strong and pushes them towards the exit.
The presence of a pilot on board - which is compulsory - is just as essential as it allows you to pass through locks without any problems, or almost.
This third doorway is symbolic for Sarah, who after many years is finally about to return home. Indeed, the windsurfing champion grew up in Polynesia. It is once again a very emotional moment for all of them, the time to finally start a new chapter in their lives.
To celebrate this symbolic moment, and after the pilot's departure, it is at anchor that they will meet up with their boat buddy for a well-deserved evening's rest.
