A new speed record for Antoine Albeau

This Friday, July 17, 2020, the most successful windsurfer in history has just set a new speed record in windsurfing over one nautical mile (1?852 m), with a run of an average speed of 43.04 knots.

It was on the Prince of Speed - world speed record on water - organized on the beach of Le Rouet, in the Aude, that Antoine Albeau made his own again. On July 17th, he broke the speed record for the nautical mile in windsurfing, posting a time of 43.04 knots to cover the distance of 1?852 m.

The most successful record holder in the history of the sport - 25 windsurfing World Championship titles to his credit - thus beats the previous record of 2019, set by the Belgian Vincent Valkenaers with a speed of 42.23 knots.

The speed record approved by the WSSRC (World Speed Sailing Record Council), the body that ratifies sailing records, will come to an end this Tuesday, July 21, after more than a month of dizzying speeds.

The 48-year-old athlete also set the speed record for the nautical mile on a foil board with a time of 30.76 knots.
