Bavaria C42, the cruise in German fashion

The Bavaria C42 is the new model in Bavaria's C-Line, a more modern cruising yacht range launched in 2017. With a nice living space, it will allow to sail comfortably with your family.

Developing the C-Line range

The German manufacturer Bavaria took advantage of the Düsseldorf Boot 2020 to return to the forefront of the scene. It must be said that for several months now, the yard has been experiencing major financial difficulties, but continues to develop its ranges. Notably the C-Line range, launched in 2017 and today composed of 3 models in line with the current market trend.

The new model from the Bavarian shipyard is the C42, a 12.38 m long cruising yacht with a chine hull and V-shaped hull. At the stern, the very wide stern allows to free up interior volume and offers a comfortable layout with 3 double cabins.

A cockpit with two living areas

The transom is completely closed and turns into a beautiful swimming platform. Both steering positions are aft and have seats on the transom. The navigation screens are close to the steering wheels for easy navigation.

This arrangement frees up space at the front of the cockpit to offer a large open-air dining area with two benches and a central table whose sides can be unfolded. The roof is rather flush, which gives the boat a rather modern look and moving around on board is easy on the wide side passages.

Two types of rigging are offered, with a classic mast or a furling mast, and two choices of headsail are also on the catalogue, a furling genoa or a self-tacking jib. A delphiniere will allow the rigging of downwind sails.

Generous interior volume

Inside, the volume is very high. Hull glazing provides natural light and deck hatches will be used to ventilate the boat. The finishes are pretty good and the layout is quite cosy.

The C42 is offered in several versions of layouts: two or three double cabins (one forward and two aft). In the 2-cabin version, it is possible to opt for a second bathroom in the forward cabin. In the 3-cabin version, it will also be possible to opt for this additional installation. Each cabin offers storage.

The 3-cabin version's toilet is located at the stern and offers a separate shower, a welcome feature.

The L-shaped galley is located on the port side and offers all the necessary equipment to cook on board: marine gas cooker, refrigerator, sink and above all plenty of storage space. Forward, the space is divided between a sofa on the port side and a U-shaped saloon on the starboard side. By unfolding a kind of extension, it will be possible to unfold the saloon table and thus obtain a large dining space for at least 6 people.

The chart table is positioned in the direction of travel against the forward cabin bulkhead. Then we'll use the sofa to settle in.

Although the interior is comfortable and bright with several heights of portholes, ideal for cruising, we deplore the absence of handrails or fargues. With this new model, Bavaria offers a model in the age of time that has nothing to envy to the competition.
