The story is a bit like a fairy tale for the river boat builder Nicols. The Hungarian government has launched a call for tenders to open its country to river tourism. It is a question of delivering boats adapted to river navigation, of installing 2 bases, of developing the banks and even of creating the legislation!
A virgin country of river navigation
In fact, Hungary, apart from a few river boats, did not offer rental of cruise boats without a license. Seeing the tourist potential, this state invested the field and it is Nicols which won the bet. Indeed, this French manufacturer delivers 20 boats (10 in 2019 and 10 in 2020) to open 2 bases (on the model of the French bases). Availability for tenants: May 2020.
A wild nature
The navigation takes place on the river from Kisköre or Tokaj. There is still no one-way possible between these two bases, due to a dam that blocks the passage between the 2 bases (but a lock that needs work could be reopened soon). But the particularly wild tourist destination is worth the detour.
2 brand new bases
From Kisköre you will be in the middle of a wild nature which makes the joy of the ornithologists. You will cross the largest steppe in Central Europe. And you will discover breathtaking landscapes. The region of Tokaj is more hilly. It has made its reputation with its wines and its castles to visit. Adventure parks for children are even available. The navigation is always done on a natural river. The current encountered is about 8 km/h. The boats are delivered with more powerful engines than those present on the canals in order to adapt to this specificity.
Reservations open
The season is a little shorter than in France and starts in May to avoid floods. It then extends until October, as in France. The rental rates for Hungary are identical to those for France; the only difference is that the calendar is divided into only 3 periods (low, medium and high season). Reservations are already open.
