You have probably already seen a Victron Energy device in your life as a sailor. They are recognizable by their blue color. Victron Energy is a specialist in onboard energy. It offers a range of products that goes from chargers to monitoring through converters or batteries.
A hub for energy
With the Cerbo GX, Victron Energy offers a kind of concentrator, a hub, which gathers all the information about the energy on board. On this hub will be connected the battery charger, the inverter or a Charger/Converter (Multiplus/Quattro), the solar panel regulator, the battery monitor - all the products that manage the energy on board. Moreover, this product has 8 analogical inputs for sensors (temperatures, tank leveleuros), and 4 digital inputs.
And the display?
If the Cerbo GX is a black box, it is enough to connect it to a 5-inch touch screen (optional) or to the on-board plotter via an RJ45 socket for a Victron Energy icon to appear on the screen as an application. Indeed, the Cerbo GX sends pages programmed in HTML5 to the plotter. Thus, all the information on board is displayed on all the screens on board, at the chart table as well as at the helm. This system is compatible with all brands of plotters: Raymarine, Garmin, Navico (Simrad, B&G, Lowrance), and soon Furuno.

The Cerbo GX can also connect to the cloud. It is a Wifi server and for this it needs to be able to connect to the internet via a Wifi network (or LAN), a GSM modem (GX GSM) or by sharing a connection. Thus configured, the user can monitor his boat remotely.
In addition to the energy part, this system can also be used for geo fencing (perimeter surveillance) if the system is connected to a GPS (GX GSM). We can also connect sensors to detect entries in the boat or use one of the digital inputs to detect a bilge pump activation.
