A knife in the shape of a Multi50 float
The Oceanic is a sailor's knife with a very special look. Indeed, its shape is that of the port float of the Multi50 Solidaires En Peloton - ARSEP of Thibaut Vauchel-Camus, 3 e of the Route du Rhum 2018.
"The initial idea for the project came from one of the co-owners of the Solidaires en Peloton boat, Olivier Toupin, who is also a shareholder of the designer publishing company, Lib. When the boat was launched in March 2018, Olivier Toupin pointed out that the floats were as sharp as a knife, and from this came the idea of creating one" explains Christophe Albert, Lib. Manager.
In total, it took 6 months of gestation for the Oceanic to take shape. The design, which therefore takes the shape of the float, was created by the founder of the agency and designer Erwan Peron. Then, in collaboration with Roger Orfèvre in Thiers - cutlery laying - a touching (sharp part of the blade), a handle and above all a closing system were found.
The blade has a bow shape - instead of the usual curved shape - and the locking system is innovative and very easy to use "This system called K-Lock is unheard of. It was created by Roger Orfèvre and integrated by our designer on the knife. This is a world first and a patent has been registered at the INPI" christophe explains.
A knife in solidarity
The Oceanic is not just beau?! By purchasing it, you are contributing to research on multiple sclerosis. On the blade, we can see the inscription "100?000", number of patients in France. For each purchase, 1 ? is given to the ARSEP.
This knife in limited series in the colours of the Multi50 - 1?400 copies soon to be sold out - is distributed in 6 points of sale in the Brittany region - notably in Quimper and Dinant Saint-Malo - at a price of 69 ?. If this limited edition is forced to stop, the design will continue under different colors.
