An aluminium box that becomes an oven
This oven consists of three parts:
- A stainless steel base that acts as a heat diffuser from below.
- A crown-shaped aluminium"dish".
- A lid.
The special feature is the central hole. It is through it that the heat of the fire rises and then falls back on the food to cook thanks to the lid.
Successful tests
Hard to believe that this small, lightweight (900 g) and space-saving (25 x 14 cm) aluminium set will replace an oven. To convince us of this, we started by baking a simple food: baking pre-baked bread like we find in the shops. The result was impeccable. The bread is ideally baked and there is a good smell on board.
To try a more complex recipe, we used the recipe book available with the oven (optional). Result: a typical four-quarter chocolate banana cake that you don't deny when you taste it!
Hard heat to control
On an oven, the thermostat is set to maintain the cooking heat. Not with the Omnia oven. We can just adjust the firepower. The only instruction in the recipe is"low fire", or"medium fire"... Our first cake was a bit overbaked. It may take a few tries to combine cooking time and power before a perfect result is achieved.
Accessories
In addition to the three pieces that make up the oven, Euro Accessoires offers optional accessories: a rack to raise the food we used to bake the rolls. A silicone mold, crown shape that prevents it from sticking. The main mould being made of aluminium, it will be necessary to butter or oil the mould in the absence of silicone. Finally, there is also a recipe book that can give ideas to the cook who lacks them.
