Enormous success for this small keelboat which owes its existence to the request of the Dutch dealer of the Edel brand: our man wanted to propose an accessible, simple and economical sailboat... and he was well right since no less than 2 500 specimens were sold in spite of the competition of the Edel 2 with the program very close !

The Edel with a long cockpit limits the number of berths to two - the classic models offer four berths, storage space and a removable table. It adopts a well motor and a suspended rudder.
The 545 is the newest: its hull is white, the coamings are more ergonomic, the hood has become sliding and the fittings are much more complete.

Edel 5 the Edel 5 performs well in light breezes and flat water, but its curves and its weak rear support do not predispose it to chop or downwind... In Handicap National regattas, thanks to its riqui rating, the Edel 5 is capable of appearing well, notice to amateurs.
on the construction side, beware of the frequent delaminations between the polyurethane foam and the polyester skins, just like certain structural elements, like the sponge, which can be caught in fault - nothing serious, on board such a small sailboat, everything is easily reinforced and repaired.

Which has been declined in three distinct versions in addition to the classic red hull with draft reduced to 70 cm only. Edel has indeed studied a more powerful model with 20 cm more keel.
