Olas is a "Man Overboard" bracelet. This small watch-sized lozenge emits a Bluetooth signal. This signal is received by a smartphone or a tablet on which the Olas application is installed. As long as the mobile receives the signal, nothing happens. If the signal is broken, the mobile phone sends an alert. The whole boat is aware that a crew member is missing.

By transmitting in Bluetooth Low Emission (to consume a minimum of battery), the bracelet can be connected to any type of mobile phone, whether it runs on iOS (Apple) or Android. It can be read by a tablet as well as a smartphone. So on a boat, you can create a whole network with several bracelets that are housed on several mobiles. This way everyone is watching everyone and the whole crew is warned in case of an alert.

If a crew member falls into the water, the signal is cut off (Bluetooth is not transmitted underwater). The application triggers an audible alert (buzzer type). In addition, it memorizes its position (i.e. the position of the lost signal), i.e. that of the shipwrecked person. Another arrow under the first one gives the direction and the distance to reach this point.
Assuming that the boat from which you fell is the closest to rescue you, this type of bracelet is really the fastest and most efficient way to come and rescue you.

Besides, it's probably the cheapest! Indeed, it does not require any specific installation on board. No screen to install or cable to pull. No battery power supply either. This system is suitable for all users, even on smaller boats that do not have a battery. The wristband is available for 55 euros with packs containing several wristbands, further reducing the unit cost. The mobile application is free of charge.
