Sea-Tags, the solution to recover a man overboard

Sea-Tags Bracelet

Securitag invented the Sea-Tags bracelet to democratize safety at sea. Widely acclaimed since its launch in 2016, this solution is now available in stores.

Democratizing safety at sea

It's a simple bracelet Sea-Tags orange sold only 89 €. It incorporates an electronic transmitter and sends a Bluetooth signal to all smartphones connected to it. If this signal goes off, the smartphone memorizes its position, rings and can send a message to earth to warn of a possible danger. It's very simple, it works with all phones and it democratizes safety at sea.

A simple and reliable system

The transmitter, the size of a watch, is powered by a CR2032 battery which ensures an autonomy of 600 hours (or one month of non-stop navigation). On the back of each transmitter, there is a QR code that is flashed with the phone or phones that must monitor this beacon. A phone can monitor several beacons, but one beacon can be monitored by as many phones on board (that's the intelligence of the system).

Once paired, the phone ensures that it always receives the beacon signal (a Low Emission or Low Power Bluetooth signal). This signal is interrupted as soon as the beacon is immersed in water (during a fall into the sea for example). Immediately, the phone starts ringing to warn the rest of the crew that the beacon is no longer responding (the same with all the phones on board connected to this beacon).

On the screen of the telephone is displayed the name of the beacon (the first name of the crew member for example) and especially the heading and distance to the point of fall (position at the time of the fall).

Safety also for the solo sailors

When sailing alone, as is often the case for fishermen, the system also works. The phone must remain on board (and not on the solitaire !). If the signal goes off, the phone can automatically send an SMS message to 3 pre-programmed phone numbers with GPS position at the time of the fall. This allows people to alert from the ground.

Of course, solo operation works if the phone is within network range to send the message. That is, along the coast and not offshore.

To avoid consuming battery power

This beacon is also smart. It knows when it is worn on the wrist (movement) or simply stored in an equipment. In the latter case, the beacon automatically stops after 6 hours of immobility to limit battery consumption. In addition, an acoustic signal is triggered when only 30% of the battery life remains. This allows time for the battery to be replaced.

For everyone, all the time

Naturally waterproof, this bracelet must be worn as soon as you board. All you have to do is start the application on your smartphone and the entire crew will be under surveillance.
